In this section of our Monthly Newsletter we ask people to show us how Rumi has affected them and their way of thinking.
“What I can say is that I had some exposure to Rumi’s poetry before I met Fariba, and I really liked his poetry very much. It spoke to me, but I didn’t necessarily understand all of it at a deep level. I just liked what he was saying on the surface. And then in large part because I met Fariba, I was interested to know more and understand more. Once I started to take her classes, it was fascinating to me to understand about Mashnawi and that work and to understand that it was really a spiritual path - a guide to a spiritual path. That actually made it even more intriguing to me because once you were explaining all of the concepts beneath the words that I really would never had begun to understand without your explanation, it even made it more interesting to me and was a complement to, I guess, a spiritual path that I was really already on, but it was an affirmation of that path.”
