Touched by Rumi: November 2020

Rumi has the ability to reach people of all backgrounds, ages, religions, and more. His wisdom sparks us to look within and influences us to view ourselves and the world in a different way. In this section of our Monthly Newsletter we ask people to show us how Rumi has affected them and their way of thinking.

DEATH IS THE TEACHER

Death takes you to the edge of the world.

Not yours, but those you love.

Maybe it takes you too, but no one has come back to tell.

So carpe carpe carpe.

Now

not later.

Take that trip to Tanzania,

throw all those old clothes out.

You’ll never be size 6 again.

Who are you kidding?

Go into your own kingdom and find your firebird.

Smile at the wolf. Jump on his back.

Take that ride

before it takes everything.

If you have made a prison of your castle,

walk out.

You carry the key and your own light.

Take Hamlet’s advice to Horatio

and tell your story. Unpack your broken heart

with words.

The robin building her nest on the porch

under the lamp, tells you stop talking,

move on saying.“Can’t you see I am building a nest?”

Rumi tells you why all this competition

when we all go one by one

through the same gate?
