Touched by Rumi: November 2019

Rumi has the ability to reach people of all backgrounds, ages, religions, and more. His wisdom sparks us to look within and influences us to view ourselves and the world in a different way. In this section of our Monthly Newsletter we ask people to show us how Rumi has affected them and their way of thinking.

I went to half of an all day seminar on Rumi taught by Fariba Enteshari. The seminar was brilliant, and I left feeling as though I had truly encountered Love/Light/God. The central theme was a quote by Rumi stating, “Come together as a ring, even though you are crooked.” Ideas of pain being transformed into beauty and beauty being that which compels us seeped out from the heart of Rumi’s poetry. Most notably, we discussed the ‘domain of self’ and the movement between ego and Truth within this domain. In Rumi’s teaching there is no ‘bad’ or ‘good’, but instead an image of ‘direction’ in which one is either moving away from or toward the ‘Sun of Truth’/Light. I left feeling inspired and encouraged.
