Reflection on the Quote:
A message from Dr. Fariba Enteshari, Founder & Executive Director
Meditating on this verse of Mathnawi is a prayer that I keep close to my heart, reminding myself of being human but also something more. This something more can only be activated when I seek a contemplative time in the silence of my heart.
In the darker time of winter, light penetrates the darkness 60 tiny seconds a day — so it is the light of our spirit that can show us a way out of the toughest time. The contrast of being spirit within the flesh, all wrapped in one individual could not be more exposed than it has been during the last two winters. The surging opportunistic virus knows only too well how to attack our bodies. Meanwhile the vicious nature of this virus is exposing the noise of our egos screaming out for ‘freedom’ in the middle of chaos. All comes together to create a perfect storm within and out there. Yes, human behavior has so many shortcomings but still there is a ‘but’… that counts above all of our downfalls. The light of our spirit can also grow in the darkest moments and change our ability to cleanse our hearts from selfish ideas of being, to more communal ways of living.
Our light grows when we take a moment in silence and think about how the old ways have resulted in disaster. Our light grows when we start to care collectively. Our light grows when we seek to be a part of the solution and not the problem.
Our light grows when in the silence of our hearts, we start listening and hearing clearly the inner voice of our spirit that says “I am you” and “without you there is no me”.
Let the spirit illuminates the way ahead. Like the song, Soulshine by The Allman Brothers Band,
🎵When you feel like you’ve lost your way
When the candlelight of home
Burns so very far away
Well, you got to let your soul shine…🎵
Let your soul shine and…
“Cleanse the house of your heart from any darkness
because this is the house of light despite being made of matter.”
