Farsi Fridays: September 23, 2022

Though it is now translated in to hundreds of languages, Rumi’s original work was written in Farsi – including his famous Mathnawi. Each Friday we send out a word or phrase, in Farsi, that can be found in Rumi’s work. You can listen to the pronunciation and learn the meaning of Farsi words that often appear in Rumi's poetry.

Farsi Fridays is an opportunity to learn Rumi's language and better understand his wisdoms.

The Moon is a planet, not a star — unlike the Sun of Enlightenment it does not light on its own but can reflect the light of the Stars.

Rumi uses the symbolic of Moon for those who seeks enlightenment and wisdom. The light seekers and those wisdom seekers that can bring light to others in the darkest night.

“You are the light of my days

You are the joy that vanishes sorrows.

The moon that lights the night

the cloud the rains sweetness.”
